Start Your Children Off Right We feel that it is important that children learn good dental hygiene habits at an early age. That is why we offer you a free "happy visit" for your child’s first dental appointment. At this visit we gently introduce children to dental practices, giving them a positive foundation for a lifetime of dentistry. From the ages of 3-6 years old, a child's typical visit to the dentist entails a cleaning and an examination of their teeth by the dentist. The focus of these visits is preventative treatment, including fluoride treatments to protect developing as well as already present permanent teeth, sealants to protect permanent molars, and evaluation of future orthodontic needs. Generally we do not perform X-rays until the first permanent molars have come in, which is usually around 6 years of age.
